Jo Novita - *Former Olympian*

Former OLYMPIAN for Women's Doubles in 2004 Summer Olympic games is now coaching at our facility!

If you’re looking to prepare yourself for the competitive scene, you’d find that Jo would be the ideal coach for the job. Though her appearance in the 2004 Olympics is her most notable achievement, her positions on the podium in numerous international championships are nothing to scoff at.

Jensen Ly

Jensen has almost 15 years of experience as player. He has won numerous titles in junior and senior tournaments. He competed for Kwantlen Polytechnic University. During that time, he was the Canadian College Athletic Association Mixed Doubles National Champion. Jensen has also competed in international tournaments down in the United States and is a multiple title holder in the doubles events at the Washington and Honolulu Open.

He's got incredible patience when coaching younger kids and teenagers. While adults love him for his communication skills.

Ken Fung

Do you want to stand on the podium? If so, Ken is the coach for you!

Constant refining of his skills, and the satisfaction of standing on the podium because of his hard work and sweat is what he loves most about training.

With over 10 years of coaching experience, his specialty lies in teaching the correct foundations, movement, and mindset. He believes that these are three important factors to avoiding injuries and greatly expanding your full potential.

Lionel Chong

Have you ever dreamt about getting trained in other countries but just can't for whatever reason? Well, let us bring the training to you. Aside from Canada, Coach Lionel has trained in Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei. With 20 years of coaching experience, Coach Lionel specialize in doubles and mixed, but he has also produced many amazing singles players as well.

What Coach Lionel loves most about coaching is being able to make a difference in people and kids lives. Being able to help influence them into going the right path in life and being able to help them improve their self discipline, ethics and point of view so they have useful tools to carry with them for life.

His usual style of play is to finish rallies BAM! BAM! BAM! in 3-5 shots. No wonder he won gold for 3 out of 4 years in National Championship for Colleges.

Vincent Wong

The nicest, most patient and most gentle coach you can ever find is here. 

Although he sounds like a softie, I guarantee you he's not! He once represented Hong Kong's National Badminton Team in men's singles proving himself worthy of carrying the game himself. 

Aside from representing Hong Kong himself, he's also produced many great players to continue his legacy in the Junior Hong Kong Badminton Team. They even participated in the 2019 Miryang WONCHEON Yonex Korea Open Badminton Championships!

With over 20 years of coaching experience and his experience in the singles game, you bet his foundation is more solid than a rock. No better coach to learn the basics and foundations from then him.

Ted Chen

Coach Ted has experience working with recreational adult players through his previous role as the assistant coach. One of his many notable achievements was his participation in the 2016's Yonex Canada Open.

Our advanced students love his coaching for game strategy, and beginners love him for his ability to make training fun and lively. Coach Ted specializes with developing foundational skills and has also worked with the badminton team at Crofton House.

Simon Cheng

Coach Simon started playing badminton at the age of 7! He is a part of a badminton family and grew up at a badminton club. His competitive career includes playing in high level tournaments like the 2019 BC Winter Games.

Coach Simon has been coaching with us for 3 years and has experience working with both adult and younger players.  Our students found him to be such a passionate and detail-oriented coach, always finding better ways to help his students improve. Coach Simon specializes in Singles and Mixed Doubles.
